My most asked question is: HOW DO I GET FIT & HEALTHY? Whether you’re new to the wellness game, have fallen off the wagon, or just want to improve your life even further, here is my go to plan of action for making a change in your life and routine.

× IDENTIFY THE WHY, WHAT AND HOW
In order to be clear about your goals, you need to take the time to figure out the WHY, WHAT AND HOW? Ask yourself these questions and you can even write down the answers:

× WHY do I want to make this change?
× WHAT ways will this change improve my life?
× HOW am I going to make this change in my lifestyle today, or this week?

× FIND YOUR MOTIVATION
Social media and Instagram can actually be a positive inspirational space, if you use it that way. Find your own motivation through inspirational quotes and trainers, influencers or friends who you look up to. Use social media, like facebook groups or IG stories to hold you accountable. Check in with yourself weekly to see that you’re meeting your goals.

× SET SMALL GOALS
Start small, be realistic and set yourself up for success. If you’re looking to add fitness into your life, start by adding two or three 30-minute sessions in. If you want to eat healthier, trying limiting take-out to once a week, rather than elimination it completely. If you want to start waking up earlier, try setting your alarm 15 minutes earlier each day, rather than setting it an entire hour earlier and snoozing. Changes don’t happen overnight. They take time, patience and consistency.

× BE SPECIFIC WITH YOUR GOALS
Get specific about how you’ll make the change. Instead of saying “I want to workout more” write down exactly how many times a week you want to work out and schedule it in. List out specific tasks and what steps you need to take to make a change.

× DO WORKOUTS AND EAT FOOD YOU ACTUALLY LIKE
Just because your favourite influencer does Pilates four times a week and eats a smoothie bowl as her post-workout meal, doesn’t mean you should to. Find the things you enjoy and focus on small incremental progress each day. In order to be consistent, you need to enjoy the process.

× ACCEPT THE SETBACKS
Be patient with yourself. Not everyday will be perfect and you will have setbacks. Be persistent, move on and keep moving forward.

What’s one health/fitness change you’d like to make this year?
