This delicious sesame chicken recipe is sticky, sweet and super easy to make! A healthier version of your traditional take out that is 1000x times better – we even have the Jer seal of approval.
Healthy Sesame Chicken
Ingredients
For the chicken:
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
2 Tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot flour
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 Tbsp neutral oil
For the sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce or tamati
2 Tbsp honey or coconut sugar
1 tsp sriracha or chilli sauce
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp sesame oil
2 Tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the chicken, cornstarch, salt and pepper. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Add oil and chicken to the pan. Stir-fry chicken for 5-6 minutes, until it’s golden brown.
- While chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce by combining soy sauce, honey, sriracha, ginger, garlic, sesame and sesame oil. Set aside.
- Once chicken is cooked, add sauce to the pan and stir to coat. Allow sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes, until thickened and sticky.
- Plate chicken and sprinkle with green onions and more sesame seeds. Serve with hot rice and veggies!
- Stays good in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
